Kohinur Begum lives in Sharankhola village, a vulnerable area along the river in Southkhali Union,
Sarankhola sub-district. Her life has always been marked by natural calamities, but Cyclone Remal brought unimaginable devastation. The cyclone destroyed her shelter, swept away her belongings and food stock, and left her family struggling to survive.
Living with her youngest son and a granddaughter on the riverbank in a precarious environment,
Kohinur and her family endured days without food, their house submerged in floodwaters. Hope
arrived when UDAYAN Bangladesh conducted a door-to-door survey in her village. Kohinur was
enlisted as a beneficiary of the multi-purpose cash grant under the Post Cyclone Remal Humanitarian Response, receiving 5,000 Taka in critical support. Thanks to Cordaid for their generous funding and support, which helped us during critical times; we can’t forget Cordaid.
With this assistance, Kohinur repaired her damaged house and purchased food for her family. The cash grant provided financial support, a sense of stability, and hope during one of the darkest times in her life.
