In the Organize of UDAYAN- Bangladesh, Six Monthly Progress Sharing Meeting with
District Networking Committee Members, the project SSF Gender Mainstreaming
Governance in Ecosystem-based Coastal and Traditional Aquaculture Fishery
Management Project conducted by Coast Foundation, supported by Swedbio is held today on
Upazila Parishad Hall Room Bagerhat. In this program, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Dr.
Sanjib Das is the chief guest, and the fishery officer, Md. Ferdous Ansari as the special guest is
present today. Besides, the general secretary of UDAYAN- Bangladesh, Esrat Jahan, the
accounts officer, Md. Mosharaf Hossain, the IT specialist, Md. Saiful Islam and eight
beneficiaries of the Gotapara union are also present. This program is conducted by the program
officer, Meghla Zaman.
Firstly, Meghla Zaman shows the project’s action plan and achievements for 2024 through a
PowerPoint presentation. Then, the UNO Officer asks the beneficiaries about their satisfaction
with the project and how they are benefitted from it.
Mansura Begum boldly answers that throughout the project, fishermen like her have developed
the confidence to speak in front of people. She adds that this project gives her a platform where
she could never imagine that she would be able to sit in front of UNO and share her thoughts.
Another beneficiary, Rajia Sultana says that they get eight types of vegetable seeds that are
highly weather resistant and two types of fishes (Rui and Mrigal Carp) for both vegetable and
fish cultivation. She claims that she has produced a good number of vegetables. Besides, she eats
and sells that. The fishery officer, Md. Ferdous Ansari suggests every fisherwoman renew their
fishing card if they have not done so yet and feel free to contact the fishery department if they
have any fishing issues.
Finally, the program officer Meghla Zaman thanked everyone and announced the program’s
ending.
